Kabavir-ZL is a combination of three compositions, which are Abacavir sulphate 300mg, Zidovudine 300mg, and Lamivudine 150mg. It is a new formulation of triple nucleoside analogue reverse transcriptase inhibitors that work by decreasing the proportion of human immunodeficiency virus in the blood.

Abacavir is a variant of a carbocyclic synthetic nucleoside. Molecular enzymes transform abacavir into carbocyclic nucleoside triphosphate, an analogue of deoxyguanosine-5′-triphosphate that is an active substance metabolite. Incorporating into viral deoxyribonucleic acid and competing with the organic enzyme gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase inhibits reverse transcriptase activity.

An analogue of a synthetic nucleoside is lamivudine. It stimulates internal phosphorylation, which results in lamivudine triphosphate; this is the process of adding a phosphate group to a molecule. That is an active 5’ triphosphate metabolite. After a structural analogue of nucleoside is combined, the 3’ phosphate source of action is the inhibition of reverse transcriptase by deoxyribonucleic acid chain termination.
